coco bio

born in southampton (a small town in northern ontario), in 1970, i was called coco from the moment i opened my eyes upon entry to planet earth. what was as a child, a loathesome name, has become a great asset. moving here there and everywhere, the constants in my life have been my family and my painting. self-taught and from a family rich with artists, it is as natural to me as breathing. music pulsates continuously in my studio. my children have helped me with my method which is intuitive, spontaneous, and very fast. i wait for the canvas to direct my work, each painting a unique process each piece the teller of its own tale. i live for colour, humour and texture. observing the wealth of my own life, i paint from my point of reference and what i know to be true. striking layers of optimism,strokes of joy, dots of illumination, lines of balance, paired with an ecstatic love for what i do equals a coco jones original.
